Beacon Photographs 1958-1969.

This series consists of photographs taken for and used in the Beacon, a publication of University Hospital. The photographs date from 1958 to 1969 and are arranged by month and year corresponding to the Beacon issue for which the photographs were taken. The majority of these photographs are small black and white "snapshots." Photographs from the late 1960s appear to be professionally taken and are generally in larger 5X7 and 8X10 formats. The images document University Hospital activities, people, and places in considerable detail. Far more photographs were taken than ever appeared in the Beacon, and these images capture all aspects of University Hospital activities from maintenance and housekeeping, to administration operations, to patient care. Images also document groundbreaking and dedication ceremonies for new or remodeled facilities. Many photographs document the interior of the hospital before and after remodeling projects. A large number of the images document University Hospital educational activities including Hospital programs in Medical Technology, Blood Bank Technology, Radiological Technology, and Nursing.
